Mississippi Smithwick gets neck deep in the sauce, conjuring up scenes of yesteryear...when heartfelt connections required pen, paper and postage. No one knows who sent the letter if the sender's address wasn't included. There was no digital trail. Something in the guts of this notion must have crept under Sam's skin when he scribes these lyrics of "Make Up Your Mind." Sonic composition heard here includes buzzsaw ax grinding + a hound dog howl from Sam Smithwick himself. Sam is accompanied on the bass guitar by a near-rowdy Jeff Tomei. It appears Tomei's gift of thud weaves between the board and the 4-strings as he also forced faders to fall upon the right neck-cocking of excellence with his typical wicked mix. And if he hadn't already inflected enough into the jam, Tomei took a tiny Johnny Blade guitar arpeggio and dropped it right into the same sauce Sam was obviously swimming in. Jack Massey only makes matters more rat tat tat when he comes strong with a devil beat. Put it all together like this, less than 3 minutes...it is all over.
